Hello! I'm Nancy Peterson from the Denver Medial Library, and I'm playing in the Sandbox again. My library's website is http://www.denvermedlib.org/ . Everyone, make a good day! :-)
Hello. Thought I’d get my hands and feet dirty and play in the sandbox. My library's web page is www.ttuhsc.edu/libraries.
Hello, everyone. I'm Rebecca Raszewski, Assistant Information Services Librarian at University of Illinois at Chicago. I am a liaison to the College of Nursing and write a blog called Nursing Tips and Tricks. If you subscribe to it, you actually will receive other entries besides nursing because the nursing section is a category in UIC's blog. I love Wikis but miss working in them like I used to.
Hello all--greetings from Houston Texas. I work at the HAM-TMC Library and I am very interested in learning more about wikis. Like most of you, I took the Web 2.0 MLA class and enjoyed it. I manage three library publications. You can visit/browse our publications at: http://resource.library.tmc.edu/publications/
Thanks for offering this course.
Hello from sunny and warm Phoenix. It is a great day here and I hope to get some gardening done at home. I do love our botanical garden (http://dbg.org/)...and take classes there often. I am working on a non public wiki to plan a family vacation; going fairly well. Jacque Doyle
Good Thursday afternoon from Lee Clemans-Taylor in Huntsville Alabama! I am just getting started on Exercise 2 this afternoon--hope I can catch up! I took the MLA CE like many of you and enjoyed it very much, however I need more practice with using a wiki, so signed up for this class and it's helping. In looking over resources for Exercise 1, I noticed many sites that had not been updated in months. One of the articles I read emphasized looking for resources with daily activity and that appeared to be cared for! Those attributes point to a wiki satisfying a real need or interest (for what could be a short term project or an ongoing one). Thanks for the opportunity to keep learning! I'm editing my paragraph here because I didn't add a link the other day. My library website is not complete, but here is a link to our SOM website. You can get to the Huntsville branch campus from there by taking a few twists and turns! http://medicine.uab.edu
Working in a hospital library can limit web 2.0 usage as patient information has to be protected at all costs. I.T. has to approve most everything. Nevertheless, I have used delicious to bookmark sites we recommend, I set up a private Wetpaint wiki for the Internal Medicine residency but enthusiasm waned when we realized there could be no remote access to articles posted on the private wiki and residents would have to log into yet one more place. I also set up a private wiki for the reference librarians but have not gotten as much collaboration from my colleagues as I hoped for. I keep learning and teaching my colleagues what I can. -- Ellen Justice
Hello from Bonnie Maky Rosen, formerly of Kaiser Permanente Ohio. I decided to try to edit my entry from two days ago, but I'm not sure this is going to work. Does this mean I am changing history? I hope to put some of this knowledge to work on the MLANO wiki I created for the web 2.0 class.
Hey there - this is Andrea Castrogiovanni. I'm the Assistant Branch Manager at the Olney Library (Montgomery County, MD -- www.montgomerycountymd.gov/library). I also work part-time at Doctors Community Hospital as their Medical Librarian (www.dchweb.org). This is my first interaction with wikis -- already learning alot. :-) Cheers!
Hi from New Jersey! This is the second "Dig Deeper" course I am taking. How wonderful that MLA provides us with this opportunity!-Elaine Goldman, Dover Business College Library.
Hi from Philadelphia! I participated in MLA's on-line course, Web 2.0 101: Introduction to Second Generation Web Tools, and created the page, PMCLibrary's Bookmarks, on Delicious. I am glad MLA is continuing with these classes. The classes are a great way to learn. Rebecca Landau, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Bonjour! I'm Sandy Gekosky. You can find me at work in Alden Library, Ohio University. OU is located in Athens, Ohio. I am a Reference & Instruction Librarian, working in Health Sciences. Please come and visit me if you are ever in Athens!
Hi, this is Marilyn Teolis from Nashville. I have used Wikis in the 2.0 class, but I think is is more fun to add to an existing wiki than to start a new one. The library web site is being redesigned, so I don't have one to share at this time.
Hello, all, especially my SCC colleagues -- looks like we are well represented! I just realized today that I had skipped this introductory step. When all else fails, read the instructions . . . . It's raining in Fort Worth today, for the first time in looong time. - Clayton Crenshaw, Univ. of North Texas Health Science Center
Hi. I'm also late joining the group. It has been an unexpectedly busy week at work. This is also my first serious foray into wikis. So far I am finding it rather frustrating. Lisa Kilburn from the Southern Regional AHEC. www.southernregionalahec.org/students/iac.html
Hi All: I'm late joining the group - password issues. I'm in the Reference Dept. at the Univ. of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Library in Little Rock. This is my first foray into wikis and so far I've learned a lot just by attempting to navigate on the site. We too are having psychotic weather. Two days ago we're in the 80's and today it is sleeting on my house. I personally am ready for the tulips to start blooming! - Susan Steelman
Ah, I finally have access to the page so long as Mark stays away... - Mike Coffman from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Library. (crossing his fingers)
Now that things have calmed down a bit I will try my hand at editing in the Sandbox. Boy, things can be brutal in here :)! -Shari | Head, Reference | University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Bird Library.

Hi, from Morrisville, VT. I am a solo HS librarian in a small,25 bed , critcal access, rural hospital in north central Vermont. Spring is attempting to move in. However we always hope to get warm days and cold nights to get good sap runs and don't mind the colder nights. I have been exploring the wiki info and find it intersting but am still getting used to navigating. These classes have certainly gotten me interested in the social media that out there and I have been reluctant to explore. Stacy Wein
Hi people, I'm Shannon Jones from Richmond, Virginia. Just like many of you I completed the Web 2.0 course in 2008. Hi, from Craig, Colorado in Northwestern Colorado. I work at the VA in Grand Junction, Colorado. I am in Craig visiting our Out Patient Clinic tomorrow. Craig often has some of the coldest temperatures in the US. Tonight it is supposed to go down to 5 degrees. Grand Junction, on the other hand was balmy today. Hi I'm Vedana from Miami Florida. I'm an academic medical librarian. Down here we're experiencing winter which means the nights can get down into the 50s. I'm originally from Buffalo NY so yes I am laughing at that. I used wikis a lot in classes in library school, but was curious how I could incorporate them into teaching the medical students and working with faculty. That is why I am taking this class.

Hi! Marie Ascher here, scrambling to catch up. I'm the Head of Reference & Information Services at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY (about 30 minutes north of Manhattan in Westchester County). Here's our website: http://library.nymc.edu We do have a couple wikis up and running, using pbwiki. We have an internal one we use for committee meeting minutes and planning documents and departmental docs that it's convenient to access to from anywhere. And we have developed one external one for one of our programs which allows us to collaborate with faculty and staff of that program to provide information resources to trainees. That can be viewed here: http://lend-leadd.pbwiki.com/

Hello! My name is Lori Graham. I am the solo librarian at Jameson Health System Library at New Castle PA. The students of the Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing are on Spring Break but it did not slow down for me. I was hoping it would. I also am the Assistant CME Coordinator for the Hospital. We had our re-accreditation visit with PA Medical Assoc. on Tuesday. I also came down with Bronchitis to add to the stress. My goal in this is figure out how as a solo librarian, how I can utilize a wiki page. I set one up with the Web 2.0 Class last year. Just hoping to see how it works. http://www.jamesonhealthsystem.com is the Health System's website but the Library only has an intranet website.
I am Judy Burnham from the Univ of South Alabama Biomedical Library. I have had some experience with wikis, especially with WetPaint, but am always eager to learn more. We have developed a wiki for heath care resources that we call the Medical Matters wiki. We have invited our faculty to edit the wiki, but not many have.
Judy! love your PT wiki! - already sent it to some of our PT faculty. -- Molly Knapp

More on 'stealing the lock': Edit Lock
http://pbwikimanual.pbwiki.com/The-Editor?SearchFor=steal+the+lock&sp=2#EditLock
The edit lock is a feature we have in place to prevent two people from editing the same wiki page at the same time. There is no way to turn it off. If you are editing a page, no one else will be able to unless one of these things happens:
* You save the page.
* You hit cancel and don't save your changes.
* You make no changes on the page for five minutes or more.
If you leave the page alone for more than 5 minutes, another user can "steal" editing privileges from you. This cancels your changes and they can make their own changes.

I've taken web 2.0 classes before, but I wanted to focus just on wikis to see if they'd be good for our library. I've played around with pbwiki and others - I want to know if more is out there and what others are using.

Hello, Everyone from Portland Maine. Yes, it is snowing here....again. But, Spring is definitly in the air.
I have been checking out wiki platforms - have used pbwiki with a group of librarians here in Maine - using it to plan and coordinate a regional conference (NAHSL 09) http://nahsl09.pbwiki.com It is working beautifully for us. However, I am totally intrigued by wikidot and see that many of you are using it. I am looking forward to delving much more into it and maybe using it for my library page here at the Foundation for blood Research. - cheers Patty

Maureen "Molly" Knapp said

Hi Ann, it looks like someone wrote over your wiki entry with theirs! However, nothing is really deleted on a wiki...it is just saved in the "page history" (it's located on the top right hand of this page). The "page history" acts as an archive, and is listed by date & username, so if you do revise a document or add content that might have disappeared from the current version, you still have the old stuff tucked away.
If you want, you can add back your Sandbox info by clicking on the revision with your username, then edit the page and add the content back in.

Hello Maureen:
When I go to the Edit section of the Sandbox I clearly see my edits (see below) but once I save they are not published. I have tried several times to no avail. I had no trouble editing the books & journals section...Not sure what is going on.
It doesn't seem like someone wrote over my entry as the last entry by Bonnie has been up for a while.
Thanks. This has been an interesting look at a wiki at work. Ellen

I am looking forward to taking the Digging Deeper Blog to see which is best for what I want to accomplish. I would like to have a informational page out on the web but also make it so others can contribute without changing what I have. Kind of a blog/wiki combination. Thank you for having this course.

Hello! I am discovering a few mistakes I've made at this late hour. For one, when I edited my original post in the sandbox, I must have deleted the original and now just the section I wanted to add is displaying. If time, I'll try again! Also, my post on the health science wiki page disappeared. The title and link shows up--but no text. Not sure what happened. I saw the text once, however nothing displays now! Again, if time will try again. If I don't get ce credit, it's okay, I've enjoyed the course and learned alot, even though it may not be showing up in my work! L. Clemans-Taylor, Huntsville, AL
